"Scrooged" (1988)

Scrooged (1988) is thew wonderful remake of Dickens classic staring Bill Murray. It gets better with every watching, and has taken its place along side It's a Wonderful Life and Christmas Vacation as holiday musts at my house. I would like to wish all of the Funhouse members and staff the best of the holiday season, and hopes for a prosperous and healthy New Year.

"Born on the 4th of July" (1989)

In keeping with the holiday spirit, I have done another holiday film -- Born on the 4th of July (1989). The film is the true account of Ron Kovic (played by Tom Cruise) who left for Vietnam and idealistic and patriotic Marine from a country that supported him, and came back paralyzed from the waist down to a country that burned flags rather than waiving them. After horrible treatment at Veterans Hospitals, he recovers enough to go home, but finds he still can't leave the horrors of war behind, and that he no longer fits in at home. He takes refuse at a Mexican resort catering to disabled Veterans for a while, which is where we see him with Cordelia Gonzalez, playing a hooker. He ends up becoming a prominent anti-war and pro human rights spokesman.

Well acted, although not always pleasant, it is definitely worth seeing. It won Oscars for best director (Oliver Stone) and best editing, and was nominated for 6 more including best actor and best picture. IMDB readers have it at 6.9/10, and critics range from 3 1/2 stars to 4 stars. US Gross was $70.001m.

  • A minor correction from yesterday...thanks to Charlie for the info:
The actress is Clotilde "brainless" Courau and not Emmanuel Salinger who's a guy...

On to the latest from TomCat

  • Grazyna Dlugolecka, in her only IMDb credit "Dzieje grzechu" ("Story of a Sin") (1975)
    (1, 2, 3, 4, 5)
  • Saskia Reeves, from "Close My Eyes". A small movie from 1991 about a brother and sister's incestuous relationship. Maltin gave it 3 stars, and IMDb readers seem to like it as well. (1, 2, 3)

  • Drew Barrymore in topless scenes from "Boys on the Side".
  • Mia Sara, and her plastic boobs in topless scenes from 1996's "Undertow".
  • and ...
    Sophie Marceau
    (1, 2)
Beautiful topless 'caps by Uco from "Firelight". Is it just me, or is Sophie aspiring to be the next Sonia Braga with respect to becoming the most frequently nude "real actress"? Scoop is more of the stats guy, but I'd be interested to compare their nudity to movie ratios.

    Samantha Fox
    (1, 2, 3, 4)

The busty Page 3 babe showin' off the goods.

Jennifer Lopez A cool collage by Akira featuring Jennifer in "The Cell". No nudity of course, but there is one frame featuring her bum. Or should that be her BUM? (well it is rather large).

Alexandra London Topless exposure and lesbo lovin'...two of my favorites. Vidcaps from the French movie "Pourquoi pas moi?"

Jeanne Moreau The French cinema legend in topless 'caps from 1974's "Je t'aime". Not looking too bad for a woman in her mid 40's.

Laetitia Pesenti Excellent full frontal nudity by the French actress in scenes from " la vie, la mort!"

Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu Full frontal 'caps by Touch. Not too sure of the source.

Alison Eastwood Very nice and almost fully nude B&W from a Euro mag.

Claire Danes Paparazzi pic of Claire on the beach. As for skin, well she is in a bikini, but let's just say that she's not exactly going to be on the cover of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue any time soon. By the way, the über-dork seen with her is apparently her "man". Hey, if that guy can land a celebrity...there's hope for me yet!

A buddy of mine sent this to me. I'm guessing this is one of Nostradamus' "lost" quatrains.

    "Come the millennium, month twelve,
In the home of greatest power,
The village idiot will come forth
    To be acclaimed the leader."
