Amy's O (2001), which IMDB calls Why Love Doesn't Work, and Amy's Orgasm, is a low budget Indie written, produced and directed by, and starring Julie Davis. She plays a 29 year old Jewish former Ivy Leager who has just written a successful self help book entitled Love Doesn't Work, the premise of which is that love doesn't work, relationships don't last, and that women don't need a man in their life to be complete and fulfilled. This is, of course, based on her own experience in relationships.

She is making the talk show rounds, and ends up falling for a shock jock stud, who would seem to be the epitome of everything she is against. The story is basically a romance, but it told with great off-beat humor, and incite into the female thought process. It also takes on some sacred cows, such as feminism, therapy, and the Catholic church. She is Jewish, and her manager wants her to see her therapist, but she decides to go to confession, instead. "It's free, and it's fairly anonymous."

Davis shows a breast in an early sex scene. Although breast and face are not in the same frame, it was a continuous pan from one to the other. She also shows a breast near the end of the film getting dressed. She pokes through many of her outfits as well. IMDB readers say 5.1 of 10. It received 18% positive from Rotten Tomatoes. I enjoyed the film, largely due to Davis's character, and some of the humor, but I am one of the few. The proper score is C-. It is not even strong genre fare, but I enjoyed it.

Two tweeners from 2002 - not good enough to recommend, but each with some very solid elements that could please genre fans. I liked 'em both. Both have nudity, but not from the leads.

Crazy as Hell is a supernatural mystery, ala The Sixth Sense. I can't recommend it unreservedly, but I really admire what they did with no budget, a digital camera, and a two-week shooting schedule. Both the director and the screenwriter have some talent, and that covered a multitude of sins.

Empire opened yesterday. It is a story of a gangster trying to go legit, ala Carlito's Way. It has a great premise, partnering uptown investment bankers with drug dealers from the South Bronx, and it has a lively well-rounded performance from John Leguizamo. More important, it has what every film should have. A completely gratuitous lesbian bath scene.

From "Malibu Express", Lori Sutton. Natural body, killer caboose, tanlines. Need I say more? After working on Tuna's frames from Malibu Express I went and ordered a copy for myself. Not so that I could cap it myself...Tuna nailed everything there was to see... but so that I could watch it again and again. Tis my favorite Andy Sidaris movie.
