License to Kill has Timothy Dalton in his second appearance as Bond, and he did a decidedly great job. Desmond Llewelyn as "Q" had his largest part ever, and Robert Brown and Caroline Bliss made their last appearances as M and Moneypenny. The story is not typical Bond. James attends Felix Lieter's wedding. When a drug kingpin kills the bride, and feeds one of Felix's legs to a shark, Bond swears revenge. M visits and demands that he go to Istanbul for his next assignment, and Bonds quits. M demands his gun and says he is no longer licensed to kill, but does not try very hard to prevent him from escaping. Sometime later, Q turns up "on holiday" to see if he can be any help, and Bond is told at the end that M has a job offer for him. My read was that M couldn't approve the activity, but was on Bond's side.

He partners with a CIA operative, Carey Lowell, in pursuit of Robert Davi. He also takes the time to charm Davi's girlfriend, Talisa Soto. Here we have a determined Bond with much less humor who relentlessly chases Davi. There is a wonderful cameo appearance of Wayne Newton as a televangelist who actually is a front for the drug trade. The action highlight is a downhill chase with gasoline tanker trucks.

I loved this one. The major critics agreed. (Maltin 3, Berardinelli 3, Ebert 3 /12), but it did not do well at the box office. Made for $40m, it only brought in $156.2. IMDB readers have it way too low at 6.1/10. It came out at a time when there were lots of action films, which probably accounts for it's poor showing.

You never heard of it, right? Well, guess what? It's the first film in I don't know how long that I can recommend both for the content and the nudity. James Belushi is the Mr Myagi of hitmen - he does the whole "whacks on, whack off" thing with his little grasshoppers, and they have to kill a random person to show they are cold-blooded enough to be icemen.

The latest guy makes a bad choice in the phone book. Poor mousy, suicidal Sheryl Lee, once she finds there are assassins after her, figures she has nothing to lose. She transforms herself into a Home Study Femme Nikita, and fights back - with impressive results and a great ending!

The casting director gets an A+ for choosing Belushi and Sheryl Lee. They were perfect in their roles.

The film also features frontal nudity from Lee, and some various other topless eye-candy scenes. (Gisella Peters is an unknown, but beautiful, and took her clothes off in very good light.)

I tried an experiment with the Lee frontal collages, since she was far from the camera. The three frontals include one at actual size, one at 2x, and one at 3x (three different frames), and the one at triple size is not half bad - almost as good as a VHS image.

TomCat also outdid himself today, with Steaming, the 1985 film adaptation of Nell Dunn's play about naked women of various social classes, sometimes unable to get along, but bound together by their desire to preserve an old-fashioned London Spa that they like. I haven't seen the film, and it is not available on tape or VHS that I know of, but I do know that everyone is naked pretty much the entire time. This includes Sarah Miles, Vanessa Redgrave, and various supporting players. Vanessa was 48 at the time, and looked even older, but Miles was in great shape as always, and is well worth looking, although 44 when the film was made. With everyone naked throughout, I wonder how many collages Tuna could make from this movie if it were to be made available on DVD. I hope he gets a chance to find out someday.

And that just about does it for Geography class.
