Bloodmoon (1989) is an Australian teen slasher taking place in a Catholic girls school. Someone is strangling girls, and eventually boys, with barbed wire. Being set in a live in dorm type of school, it doesn't take long to start showing young breasts, and the nearby proximity of a boys school accomplishes the rest. This would be pretty much a by the numbers slasher, no better nor worse than others of its ilk, except for two strategic errors. First, they reveal the killers identity about half way through the film. Second, they don't reveal the fact that deaths are occurring to potential victims. Thus, you have no suspense, and no fear in the student body.

Breasts from Karen Miers, Samantha Rittson and Suzie MacKenzie, and breasts and buns from Christine Amor. IMdb readers have it at 4.0 of 10. Reviewers see it as on ok genre effort that gets a tad tedious in the third act. That is my take as well. C-.

Celebrity Sleuth #34 and #35:

Catching up with the Sleuth.

Issue 34 is based on my favorite of Sleuth's recurring themes: "the first time ever." Here are the rarities.

• Victoria Abril (1, 2, 3) - the first picture comes from her first modeling session in August of 1977, aged 18. The other two are from another modeling session the same year. As you can see, she used to be much more modest than she is now. Now it seems that she is always completely naked in public with an all-over tan on a nude beach somewhere, and she is still getting naked in films as well, although she's now in her 40s.

• Sofia Coppola (1, 2) - these were taken in a 1991 modeling session, and prove that a good photographer can make just about anyone look OK. In fact, she actually looks kinda hot here. Unfortunately, no amount of trick photography could undo her famous performance in Godfather 3. The outstanding film critic James Berardinelli once noted that Sofia turned out to be a better director than actor. Talk about damning with faint praise! Not much of a hurdle to clear, was it? She did turn out to be a terrific director, but if she had been as bad as Ed Wood, she still would have outdone her acting!

• Claudia Schiffer (1, 2)- these are beautiful pictures of Die Schifferin. Sleuth says they were taken in 1989, when the glamorous model was 18. I have seen the first one before many times, but the second one is new to my eyes.

• Eartha Kitt (1, 2, 3)- some pictures of Catwomen when she was a mere kitten. Eartha was forced to make ends meet in the early 1950s by posing for Scandal Sheets (first two pictures). Sleuth says that the third picture was taken around WW2 time, and was her "first time ever."

Sleuth's Issue # 35 is based on the "tele-visions" theme.

• I like this picture of Elisha Cuthbert, although nothing much is showing. The hint of an areola-peek (or maybe it's tit tape) was photographed at the Oscar ceremony in February, 2004.

• I got excited when I saw that Sleuth had another pic of Cuthbert in a see-through blouse, since we've never seen her boobs before. Unfortunately, I then remembered that I have seen these boobs before, and it was on The Fake Detective's site. The boobs aren't Cuthbert's. It is her face pasted on someone else's body. The Fakemeister debunked this picture in his case #371.

(Dan Travanti also did a fine job playing Murrow some years ago.) Clooney will play Murrow's producer, Fred Friendly.
  • By the way, after I typed that paragraph, I got to wondering whatever happened to Paul Shenar, who seems to be keeping a low profile these days. Turns out he died young - aged 53 - in 1989, of AIDS. shortly after appearing in Luc Besson's The Big Blue. Fifteen years ago? I guess that explains the low profile.

NOTE: because of a unique combination of circumstances with the Windows media player and some substantial bandwidth theft, we will have to do all of our movie files in zip format. Left click on the files as you normally would to view a picture. When you get a choice, click on "save", and put it on your hard drive in the directory of your choice. UnZIP and play from there.

I know this is not especially convenient, but it allows the film clips to continue. I can protect .zip files from hot-linking in the same way I can protect still images. For some reason, if I protect .avis and .wmvs from hot-linking, they will not play in the Windows media player, and I can't get a satisfactory work-around. Perhaps I will find a better solution, but for now this new policy allows you to continue getting the movie clips you want to see, which is much preferable to my abandoning the clips altogether.

Talk about obscure movies, the Fox Movie Channel shows a lot of them.  Watched a couple scenes in this movie and Michael Crawford couldn't act his way out of a paper bag, plus he's ... um ... not the most masculine guy in the world. Hard to believe he transformed himself to appear in Phantom of the Opera.

FYI when I hypercam vids to make the file size smaller I use DivX MPEG-4 Fast-Motion for the video compressor, then I use virtualdub to compress the audio. The properties for the vids says the video codec:  DivX Decoder Filter & audio codec:  Morgan Stream Switcher which I'm not familiar with. When I compress the audio with virtualdub I use MPEG Layer-3.  A friend of mine told me about compressing the audio about (6) mos. ago. Like I said previously, only been capping for a year & a half & I'm no expert. Hopefully this info will help members with the proper codecs for my vids.

 

When I cap big brother's I use hypercam mostly & sdp & asfrecorder if the set up allows me. I stopped using camtasia cause the file sizes were always too big, could never figure out the process, over my head lol, plus it cost too much to buy in my opinion.

I made the .wmv versions of each video. The codecs for these: Windows Video V8, Windows Audio 9. The upside of these is that you know the codecs, and they'll play in the Windows Media Player. The downside is that they are slightly larger, and slightly lower quality.

Gay themed movie. Forutunately the key hetero scene is in the first two minutes where former child starlet Asia Vieira almost shows all caught having wild sex. However when she got up and showed her box the guy's admiral should also been standing up to attention.
