Melody
(2014)
Today's
actress from the Antipodes
is in, of all things, a
Belgian/French movie, but
is for the most part in
English, well mostly when
Rachael is in the scene.
Rachael Blake plays a
woman who wants a baby but
can't because she had
cancer, so she decides on
surrogacy and this comes
in the form of Melody
(Lucie Debay), an
unemployed and practically
homeless woman desperate
for money to start her own
hairdressing salon. The
woman sets strict
conditions and even puts
Melody up in her house to
keep her close, but not
all goes to plan for both
women (as is usually the
case). Not a bad movie, at
least it's not another
try-hard psychological
thriller that usually
happens around the issue
of surrogacy. Rachael
always seems to play
austere women like she did
in Sleeping Beauty and My
Mistress and it's the same
again in Melody.
