Never heard of Where The Air Is Cool & Dark.

It's a very independent movie set in a logging town in Washington State about a man who has given up alcohol. He comes back to his home town from New York to make a short film but he's broke, so he is helping his shonky friend look after his indoor weed plantation, while doing some logging work to fill in time. He he ends up quitting his logging job after watching a man die from a fallen branch.

He meets an old girlfriend and starts up with her again but it goes badly. He finally gets around to making that film and meets another woman who helps him make it but there's something lingering in the background which will destroy that relationship.

By "very independent," I don't mean what indie films were called in the 90s. I mean this was done very cheaply with mostly non-actors and the story is a total slow burn - but I gotta say I enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would. Although it does push an ending it probably didn't need, this is well worth a look if you want to see a real indie movie.
