"The Corpse Grinders" (1972)

From the land of "It's so bad it's good" comes The Corpse Grinders. A illicit pet food manufacturer is grinding up human corpses for cat food. The only problem is that the cats develop a taste for people, and start attacking them. A doctor and his nurse, Monika Kelly, are soon on their trail. Both Monika and one of the cat victims, Andy Collings, spend long scenes in bra and panties, an Andy has part of an areola visible in one frame. I don't want to spoil all the fun, but the report of the food and drug association was classic. "There was nothing adulterous or harmful about it." IMDB readers, who clearly didn't see the humor, have it at 2.2/10. IF the genre is horror, it is an F. IF the genre is bad movies, it is a C+.

    "The Geek" (1981)

You probably remember that Scoopy recently did Godmonster of Indian Flats, and pronounced it seriously bizarre. After the shock of that film, he neglected the special features, which include 4 shorts, two of which are far stranger than the feature. In "You Cannot Fart at Love," a gospel singer sings an intro, then a small band in tux begins to play, then a man starts singing You Cannot Fart at Love. Remember the June Taylor dancers that led off the Jackie Gleason show? They have dancers doing the same sort of routine while this man is singing in an operatic voice. Everyone in the control booth is getting ripped the whole time. I don't even want to speculate on how someone wrote this dementia.

The other short is about 3 couples who go off on a hike in the woods and encounter a Sasquatch, whom they call the Geek. It is a guy in a head mask, a strange dark shirt, baggy black pants, and his Willie hanging out. One of the girls tries to make friends, and Geek strips her, then does it to her doggy style, after which he throws the three guys to the ground repeatedly until they get tired of getting up, then walks off into the sunset. There were no credits in the film, but IMDB identifies a Lynn Holmes as in the cast, and she has other credits that indicate to me she was a porn actress. If anyone can confirm that it is her, let me know and I will re label the images. At any rate, this girl shows bush, breasts, and buns. This is seriously twisted material, and explains how Something Weird video got its name. If the aim of film is entertainment, then this was a success, as I was entertained. I doubt of 1 in 20 is as twisted as I am, however. F, but in the best possible way.

Demonia is a grade b Euro-gore film which is a weak film, even by the limited standards of that genre. Worse yet, there's almost no nudity because the 15th century Satanists have their orgies under the covers. Oh, that crazy Satan. Just when you think you have him figured out, he goes and starts preaching modesty. No wonder they call him the Father of Lies.

Or was that Nixon? I can never keep them straight.

Maniac is one of Jane Austen's forgotten novels, a painstakingly detailed examination of the social interaction of the English upper classes in the early 19th century.

OK, maybe not. Maybe it's a story about a guy who kills women, scalps them, and places their hair on his personal harem of department store mannequins.

    Hey, I was close.

Anyway, screw the silly movie, and watch the 51 minute bio of the lead actor, the late Joe Spinell, which will make you laugh and cry and has lots of nudity (he married a porn star!)

    Dear Scoop,

Check out this fashion photo. It's what every nearly-dressed woman will be wearing:

They claim this is 1970s retro, but I was in high school in the '70s and I certainly think I'd remember if the girls dressed like this.
