"My Best Friend's Wife"
My Best Friend's Wife (2001) is an update on Bob & Carol and Ted and Alice. Two couples have been best friends practically since childhood. One of the men frequently suggests wife-swapping, jokingly. When the other husband loses a promotion in another city, he feels life is passing him by, and thinks the swapping is a great idea. He sets out to convince the others. I don't want to give the rest of the plot away.
The characters were reasonably well developed, and some of the attitudes had the ring of truth. The problem was that the story really needed to follow everyone into the bedroom, yet stars Meredith Salenger and Tara Westwood showed no skin at any time. The nudity was from Juliette Alexander as a stripper/girlfriend of a single friend.
IMDb readers have this at 5.3. It won an audience choice award at an obscure film festival. It seems to have had a very short theatrical run in New York. The film is fine technically, and the characters are all sympathetic. With a little more nudity/sex in the bedroom, and a little more comedy in the script, this could have been a good couples erotic romantic comedy. As it stands, I doubt that it pleases any audience. This is a low C-.

I discussed this at great length the other day.
Here's the info
if you care to review it. The French Region 2 DVD is bare-bones,
with no features except a poor quality trailer, and no widescreen
version of the film.
The good news, however, is very good. Although there is no
widescreen transfer, the full screen version is an open matte full
frame, so there is nothing missing, and the visual quality of the
transfer is completely satisfactory, resulting in an excellent
upgrade of our images from this film.

a better career than she actually did. She is neither very
beautiful nor a very good actress, but she is beautiful enough and
talented enough that her sheer sex appeal, her offbeat style, her
crooked smile, and her rare athleticism should have added up to a
big career, but it did not. She did fine, of course, but never as
well as I expected, so maybe I'm one of only a few who find her so
goddamned sexy.

Latest Electoral Vote Predictor - Bush 280. Kerry 234.
In this week's changes. Kerry got good news only in Florida and
New Jersey. The President received positive shifts in eight
states, and gained in all-important California: (1) Florida from
neutral to barely Kerry (2) New Mexico and Oregon from strong
Kerry to barely Bush. (That strong Kerry result in New Mexico
seems to have been a fluke) (3) Iowa from barely Kerry to barely
Bush (4) Minnesota from barely Kerry to undecided (5) Arkansas
from undecided to barely Bush (6) Maine from barely Kerry to
barely Bush (7) New Hampshire from barely Kerry to undecided (8)
New Jersey from barely Bush to barely Kerry (9) Not a change, but
California went from strong Kerry to weak Kerry. Kerry's sixteen
point lead in California dropped to five points. California is for
all the marbles, so that trend could spell disaster for Kerry,
assuming it is real.

- All of Jean-Pierre Jeunet's films are completely brilliant, so
this is probably much, much better than it sounds ...
The trailer for A Very Long Engagement: " From the
director and star of 'Amelie' (Jean-Pierre Jeunet and Audrey
Tautou) comes a very different love story, 'A Very Long
Engagement,' based on the acclaimed novel by Sebastien Japrisot.
The film is set in France near the end of World War I in the
deadly trenches of the Somme, in the gilded Parisian halls of
power, and in the modest home of an indomitable provincial girl.
It tells the story of this young woman's relentless, moving and
sometimes comic search for her fiancee, who has disappeared. He is
one of five French soldiers believed to have been court-martialed
under mysterious circumstances and pushed out of an allied trench
into an almost-certain death in no-man's land. What follows is an
investigation into the arbitrary nature of secrecy, the absurdity
of war, and the enduring passion, intuition and tenacity of the
human heart. "
-
The trailer for Tarnation: "'Tarnation' is as fiercely
personal a self-portrait as can be recalled. Having documented his
life since the age of eleven, Jonathan Caouette weaves a
psychedelic whirlwind of snapshots, Super-8 movies, answering
machine messages, video diaries, early short films, snippets of
'80s pop culture and dramatic reenactments to create an epic
portrait of an American family torn apart by dysfunction and
reunited through the power of love. The film begins with
31-year-old Caouette learning of his mother's lithium overdose and
his trip home to aid in her recovery. Slipping back into the
archives of his youth, we watch Caouette grow up on camera,
seeking escape from family trauma through musical theater, grade-B
horror flicks and the forging of his identity through popular
culture. "
-
The trailer for Callas Forever: "At the beginning of
this engrossing story, Larry Kelly (Jeremy Irons) has become a
manager of rock bands - much easier to handle, he asserts, than a
temperamental opera star. Managing Maria Callas's late career has
left him scorched by the star's brilliant fire. Visiting her
palatial Paris apartment, Kelly is shocked to find a broken and
reclusive Callas (Fanny Ardant) humiliated by the deterioration of
her voice. Determined to re-ignite her passion and restore her
legacy, he convinces her to take on an important project: a film
of the opera Carmen, in which she will lip-sync her own, glorious
recording of many years previous. Thus begins a reawakening of
their former relationship, mixing creative passion, genius, and
drive in an incendiary cocktail. The stars are ably supported by a
feisty Joan Plowright as their mutually supportive journalist
friend, newcomer Jay Rodan as Larry's handsome artist boyfriend,
and a wonderfully steamy performance from sexy Gabriel Garko as
the tenor who worships Callas and yearns for his own opportunity
for greatness."

stations to defend their lives, Tying the Knot digs deeply into
the meaning of marriage today. From an historical trip to the

The trailer for The Holy Girl: "'The Holy Girl'
intimately explores the burgeoning sexuality and religious fervor
of two teenage girls. Artfully piecing together a mosaic of
nuanced details, fragments of sounds, and small moments, Martel
creates a potent and specific portrait of adolescent life. In the
town of La Cienaga, Amalia lives with her attractive, divorced
mother and her uncle in the crumbling, run-down Hotel Termas,
which her family owns and runs. After choir rehearsals the girls
gather in the parish church for further instruction in faith and
vocation. What does God want from me? How do I discern between the
temptation of the Devil and the calling of God? In between the
teachings, the girls gossip and whisper secretively. The lives of
the girls and their families intersect with those of a group of
visiting orhinolaryngologists (ear, nose and throat specialists)
staying at the hotel for a medical convention, including the
married, middle-aged Dr. Jano. One day, a crowd of people gather
in the street to watch a man play an unusual, exotic instrument: a
theremin. Amalia is in the crowd when a man standing behind her
presses himself sexually against her. Later, in the hotel, she
discovers that this man is Dr. Jano, one of the doctors attending
the conference. Amalia finds herself drawn to the Doctor and for
days she spies on him. Dr. Jano never notices her presence, but he
does notice her mother, Helena. Helena greatly enjoys the
attention from this man, but she has little hope as she knows he
is married and has a family. Days afterward Amalia confides in
Josefina what occurred in the street with Dr. Jano and of her
secret mission: to save one man from sin. Dr. Jano becomes caught

Words from Scoop.
.avi's from Shiloh.
.wmv files made by Scoop from Shiloh's .avi's.
NOTE: because of a unique combination of
circumstances with the Windows media player and some substantial
bandwidth theft, we will have to do all of our movie files in zip
format. Left click on the files as you normally would to view a
picture. When
you get a choice, click on "save", and put it on your hard drive in
the directory of your choice. UnZIP and play from there.
I know this is not especially convenient, but it
allows the film clips to continue. I can protect .zip files from
hot-linking in the same way I can protect still images. For some
reason, if I protect .avis and .wmvs from hot-linking, they will not
play in the Windows media player, and I can't get a satisfactory
work-around. Perhaps I will find a better solution, but for now this
new policy allows you to continue getting the movie clips you want
to see, which is much preferable to my abandoning the clips
altogether.
Meg
Meg Ryan - in In the Cut. Meg still looks
great, but I wish she hadn't waited until she was 40 to get the
clothes from her lower body, and I wish she had chosen a venue less
gloomy than this movie. I once referred to actor Mark Ruffalo (seen
here with Meg) as the world's most irritating actor. To some extent,
he still irritates me, but I have to admit the guy is quite
talented. If you saw him here, in Eternal Sunshine, and in 13 going
on 30, you would barely recognize that it is the same guy.
Perhaps these tips will help if you have trouble
with the codecs for these movies:
Shiloh says:
FYI when I hypercam vids to make the file size smaller I use
DivX MPEG-4 Fast-Motion for the video compressor, then I use
virtualdub to compress the audio. The properties for the
vids says the video codec: DivX Decoder Filter & audio
codec: Morgan Stream Switcher which I'm not familiar with.
When I compress the audio with virtualdub I use MPEG
Layer-3. A friend of mine told me about compressing the
audio about (6) mos. ago. Like I said previously, only been
capping for a year & a half & I'm no expert. Hopefully this
info will help members with the proper codecs for my vids.
When I cap big brother's I use hypercam mostly & sdp &
asfrecorder if the set up allows me. I stopped using
camtasia cause the file sizes were always too big, could
never figure out the process, over my head lol, plus it cost
too much to buy in my opinion.
A reader says:
You mentioned that some users were
having trouble with the videos on your site. There is a tool
designed to determine what codec is needed for a video.
http://www.headbands.com/gspot/ Hope this is useful to you
or your users.
Scoop says:
I made the .wmv versions of each video. The codecs for these: Windows Video V8, Windows Audio 9.
The upside of these is that you know the codecs, and they'll play in
the Windows Media Player. The downside is that they are slightly
larger, and slightly lower quality.

Hi Scoopy !
Regarding Kristien Van Pellicom on Saturday's Fun House I really
can't add much. Although Flemish, she is practically unknown over
here, but this is probably going to change since she was
introduced this month as a new character on the daily soap series
"Thuis". She'll have to do interviews for the tabloids sooner or
later, so I might have something to report in a few months. In the
meantime I guess more people know her in the States and elsewhere
thanks to the Fun House and the movie Innocence! I've sent along a
clip with a little bit of nudity from the aforementioned soap so
you can get an impression what it is like. In fact it's something
to cherish as in this series we are only entitled to a bare breast
about every 3 years. This clip dates from an episode from 1998 and
features Marijke Hofkens (Leontien Vercammen in the series) in bed
with her brother-in-law Frank Bomans (Pol Goossen) after a few
drinks too many. Her husband Luc Bomans (his brother) knocks on
the door of their hotel room.
Until today Sunday I wasn't aware the film "Species III" even
existed. Apparently Natasha Henstridge didn't take her clothes off
in it but she did unhesitantly in 1998 in the Brazilian-American
co-production "Bela Donna". This clip from that movie will make up
for that, don't you think ? There's plenty of caps from this film
in the encyclopedia as well. (the clip is in the best possible
DivX quality recorded from digital satellite TV on DVD-R in best
quality also)
That's it for now, but I'll be back with more clips soon.
Yours faithfully,
ICMS

Today we have a small batch of video clips featuring Heffers and Pets. (zipped divx .avis as usual)
First up...Gig Gangel aka Gig Rauch (Heffer, January 1980). Brief breast exposure in a scene from "Killing Device". This is her only screen exposure.
Next, here is former Pet Jenna Persaud topless in a scene from "The Other Woman" (1992). Jenna did her Pet thing in April of '87.
Moving on we have four clips of Heffer O' the Year 1995, Julie Lynn Cialini topless in "Wolfhound" (2002). She plays a dog that (who?) turns into a woman...sorta the opposite of Sigourney Weaver in Ghostbusters.

The German actress going topless and full frontal in scenes from "Schulmaedchen_Report 13". According to the IMDb, she was 13 or 14 when she did this movie. I simply can not believe that. (Compare it to Brooke Shields' in "Pretty Baby"). My guess is somebody has been caught lying about their age.

"Short Cuts"
It's a while since we've seen caps from Short Cuts. Julianne Moore's, Lori SInger's and Madeleine Stowe's nudity is well known, and there is the briefest of bush by Frances McDormand. Anne Archer and Susie Cusak also look good.
"Married With Children"
A topless Meadow Williams was seen on Sunday night and this is what she looked like in a bikini a few years ago in an episode of Married With Children called Spring Break. More bikini caps of Christina Applegate, Lisa Boyle and Heidi Marks.
"White Oleander"
White Oleander is a bit of a chick flick centred on Katie Lohmann's troubles when she is fostered out after her mother is put in jail. There's nice thong view of Robin Wright Penn, and Liz Stauber and Katie Lohmann are in their underwear. There may be a nip slip by Katie in the second collage but it would require a higher quality capture to be sure.
"For Da Love of Money"
For Da Love of Money is supposed to be a comedy but don't expect to laugh too much. No nudity but Sacha Kemp is down to her underwear and Tanya Boyd shows a lot of cleavage. Danielle Hobbs, Princess Maggay and Lisa Darden add a bit of sex appeal. (The IMDb lists Lisa Darden as Cherry Lynn but the only Cherry Lynn I could find a picture of is a white porn star, and it is definitely not her.)
"Little Fauss and Big Halsy"
Lauren Hutton shows some distant bush in Little Fauss and Big Halsy. Linda Gaye Scott shows some breast and bum, as does Erin O'Reilly. Another unidentified lady bares her backside in Linda's collages.

Pat's comments in yellow...
BOB DYLAN HATED THOSE DIRTY HIPPIES
He's Now Bob Dole - Newsweek reports that Bob Dylan's upcoming memoir
"Chronicles" will contain some big surprises. The man called the "voice of
the '60s generation" says, "I had very little in common with and knew even
less" about the hippie generation. He said all the "dropouts and druggies"
trying to track him down made him feel like a prisoner in his own house,
and he packed a Colt pistol and Winchester rifle out of fear of "rogue
radicals." Dylan writes, "I was fantasizing about a nine-to-five
existence, a house on a tree-lined block with a white picket fence, pink
roses in the backyard...I wanted to set fire to these people."
And see their ashes blowin' in the wind...
Sounds like Bob Dylan hired Ted Nugent as a ghostwriter.
Of course, if he dictated this book, that may not be what he said at
all.
Sounds like an interesting book...But let's hope Bob doesn't record the
audio version himself.
CBS MAY BILL JANET JACKSON FOR FCC FINE
Get The Onus Off Us! - The New York Post's Page Six reports that CBS is
thinking of sending Janet Jackson the $550,000 bill for the FCC Nipplegate
fine, because they don't believe it was an accident. They want to make the
point that the onus for inappropriate behavior is on the people supplying
the content.
Like really, obviously fake memos?
Hold on! Janet just showed her breast, not her onus!
YALE CONFERENCE STUDIES MICHAEL JACKSON
He's A Piece Of Work, All Right - Last Thursday, 18 scholars met at Yale
for the first academic study of Michael Jackson. A race and gender teacher
said Jackson is the "black male crossover artist of the 20th century," and
we all have watched him grow up and have a great investment in him, even if
we now find his image disturbing. Panelists picked apart Jackson from a
number of angles. An art expert declared him "a self-created piece of
art;" experts debated how his pedophilia allegations feed into false
stereotypes about gays; and they discussed how his plastic surgery reflects
shifting racial and gender roles in America.
Finally, a leading professor of abnormal psychology declared him to be
"crazy as a bed bug."
It took 18 leading experts from Yale to determine that Michael Jackson
is black and male.
