2014
Tommy
Lee Jones told
The Guardian
that this film
was really
about American
imperialism,
manifest
destiny, and
probably, for
all I know,
the Wilmot
Proviso and
the Gadsden
Purchase. I
sure Tommy is
a bright
fellow with a
Harvard degree
and a belief
in justice and
truth, but
personally, I
only have so
many hours in
the day, and I
don't plan to
waste any on
them watching
a movie about
this kind of
preachy,
pedantic,
ideological,
sincere
bullshit.
Sonja
(mousy brown
hair) joined
Grace Gummer
(black hair)
and Miranda
Otto (red)
in a nude but
unrevealing
bathing scene.
Remember
Miranda Otto?
She was
gorgeous, did
more than a
half-dozen
nude scenes in
the nineties
and early
oughties (see
her below in
2000's Kin),
and even
landed the
role of Eowyn
in the Lord of
the Rings
films. She
almost reached
stardom. So
close.
Unfortunately,
coming close
doesn't work
as well in the
movie industry
as it does in
horseshoes.
She's 46 now,
and the movie
business is
notoriously
unkind to
middle-aged
actresses, so
she takes
whatever jobs
she can get.
