Next, here's Romane Bohringer
from "Total Eclipse". A special thanks
to all that is good and holy. Even though this
movie starred Leo DiCaprio, he does not appear in
any of these caps. Scoop's note: I know it isn't
the trendy opinion, but I thought Leo did a
pretty damned good job in this movie. He took a
lot of grief for his American accent, as if a
British accent is any more appropriate for
playing a Frenchman, or even someone speaking
English with a French accent like Bohringer.
DiCaprio may not exacly be Branagh in the acting
department, but except for the author, DiCaprio
was the only person who had a clue what was going
on in this movie, and he did a good job on the
innocent-looking, arrogant, self-absorbed,
foul-mouthed, feral, boorish, reckless, immature,
drug-addled genius who "decided to originate
the future". That wasn't lousy acting.
That's the way Rimbaud was, as bad at being human
as he was good at writing poems. After I saw the
movie, I read every word I could find on Rimbaud,
and I still think Leo captured him very well.
Plus if you ever read a physical description of
Rimbaud, you'd think the author must be talking
about DiCaprio.
