"The Arena" (2001)

The Arena (2001) is a made-for-vid, and sort of a sequel to Pam Greer's film of the same name. The story takes place in a remote Roman outpost. The ruler sends someone to Rome to buy Gladiators, and women. The women prove to be spunkier and more combative than the gladiators just doing their normal kitchen chores, so they are trained as gladiators. They find something better to do with their swords than kill each other.

Think of this as soft-core meets Gladiator. Karen McDougal, Lisa Dergan and Kemirimbe Severina Kamugisha show their breasts. The dialogue is normal soft-core quality, but some of the set decoration was above average for the genre. C.

    "Anne Frank" (2001)

Anne Frank (2001) is a made for TV biography of Anne Frank. It starts years before the famous diary and before German occupation of Holland, and shows what her life was like in Amsterdam before the Germans arrived. It also continues where the diary left off, and shows her experiences as a German prisoner. These experiences include a scene where all of the women are stripped and their hair cut off. Anne, played to perfection by Hannah Taylor-Gordon, keeps her arms over the important parts, but her mother's breasts (Tatjana Blacher) are clearly shown. The film is based on Melissa Muller's biography of Anne Frank, and lots of research by Kirk Ellis.

For those who don't know, Anne Frank was a 13 year old Jewish girl living with her wealthy family in Amsterdam. When the German's started messing with the Jews in earnest, the family hid in an attic for several years. Anne kept a very poignant diary wich survived, and has become the second widest read work of non-fiction (second to the bible), and has spawned a play and several movies. On the whole, this film is excellent, although I think the "work camp" portion, act three, was longer and slower than necessary to make the point. Excellent performances all around. IMDB readers say 8.4/10, with 134 votes. It was filmed in Prague, Czech Republic. B.

    "Gandhi" (1982)

Gandhi (1982) is finally available on DVD. The transfer is first rate, but the special features are a little sparse. There is a long interview with Ben Kingsley, who played the title role, and a little biographical information on Gandhi, but nothing in the way of a making of, or commentary. I loved this Richard Attenborough film the first time I saw it, and, if anything, was more impressed this time. The academy was as impressed as I was awarding 8 Oscars, including Best Picture, Best Actor, Best Art Direction-Set Decoration, Best Cinematography, Best Costume Design, Best Director, Best Film Editing and Best Writing, Screenplay Written Directly for the Screen. Lest you think it was an easy year, here is the competition:

    Das Boot 8.5/10 #36
    Blade Runner 8.3/10 #51
    Gandhi 7.8/10 #196
    E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial 7.7/10 #189
    Sophie's Choice 7.6/10
    Tootsie 7.5/10
    The Verdict 7.5/10
    My Favorite Year 7.3/10
    Diner 7.3/10
    Frances 7.2/10
    Poltergeist 7.2/10
    Victor/Victoria 7.1/10
The World According to Garp 7.0/10
An Officer and a Gentleman 6.8/10

I can't explain why E. T. has a lower score, but a higher Top 250 position. Given that Best picture would generally not go to a foreign language film or a SCI FI, history has pretty much shown the academy right that year.

This epic biography portrays a man who truly understood, and lived non-violent protest, and caused the British to grant India home rule. Not only did Gandhi himself practice non-violence, but twice went on a hunger strike to stop violence spawned by his movement. Contrast that with many American proponents of non-violent protest, who spawned a lot of violence in their wake that they never took responsibility for. It is also interesting that Gandhi never held any political office, and never received any title.

Watching the newsreel footage of Gandhi makes you realize just how great a performance Kingsley gave. Maltin says 3 1/2 stars, IMDB readers have it at 7.8/10, #196 in the top 250 films. US rental alone is $24,970,000.00.

    The Hasselhoff watch: Day 5

Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back is reviewed for us by Jay himself, "You're reading an internet site about sex and making fun of celebrities? Then this is your fuckin' movie, yo. Watch it and laugh your nads off, you tubby bitch. It fuckin' rocks, except that fat fuck Kevin Smith didn't put any titties in it". Pussy.

Dressed to Kill (1980) was De Palma's homage to Hitchcock's Psycho, incorporating many elements from the master's magnum opus. It is also one of the most studiously crafted films ever made, a film that was mostly fabricated in post-production, with brilliant edits and a spooky sound track. I recommend it for film students, but more important, I recommend it as a pure guilty pleasure. It is sexy easy-watchin' fun, even though it is so meticulously storyboarded. When you get right down to it, those are two of the things I like best: dazzling, highbrow technique mixed with sleazy lowbrow content. What could be better?

    • Angie Dickinson (1, 2, 3)
    • Angie's body double
    • Nancy Allen (she was in all these De Palma movies for a while. She was, in fact, Mrs De Palma) (1, 2, 3, 4, 5)
    Graphic Response
  • Amanda Ooms, running around naked in very good lighting in scenes from the movie "Wilderness" (1996). Breast exposure and rear nudity.

Be sure to pay Graphic Response a visit at his website. www.graphic-barry.com.

  • The Night
    Helen Shaver
    (1, 2, 3)

    Patricia Charboneau

    Renée Soutendijk
    (1, 2, 3)

The Dutch actress going topless as well as playing with some dude's manhood in scenes from the Paul Verhoeven movie, "Spetters" (1980).

Amanda Tapping Something the sci-fi fans will definitely enjoy...Amanda in a small, and rather form fitting tank top, plus pokies. Vidcaps from the series "Stargate SG-1".

Ariane Schluter Wonderbra cleavage, and her hand mysteriously down her pants in scenes from the Dutch movie "06" (1994).

    Scorpion's Skinemax
Alexandra Silk From the late night cable series "Thrills". Pseudo-sex of course, plus all 3 B's (mostly breasts).

    Flower Edwards
    (1, 2, 3)

Also from "Thrills". All 3 B's as she rolls around in body paint. Link #3 adds Jessa Leigh and some lesbo lovin'.

Jessa Leigh From another segment of the same "Thrills" episode. Breasts, and possible bush while she gets it on with some dude.

Glori Gold Many know her from "Hot Springs Hotel", but here she is in another late night series, "Erotic Confessions". Nice topless caps, a thong view, and a far-off gyno-cam view (check out the bottom right frame).

    Joyce Jimenez

Both ladies go topless in scenes from the Richard Grieco movie "Body Parts". If it says Grieco, it's gotta be Good! Well, at least there's nudity. Tuna reviewed this one back in the June 20 edition if you want to know more, or see more 'caps.

    Xenia Seeberg
    (1, 2)

A great catch by Downdude! Once again, the Sci-fi channel makes a bit of a mistake (although we are not complaining). Here are two nipslips from Xenia while she takes a bath on "Lexx". #1 is the better slip.

    Penélope Cruz
    (1, 2)

Excellent collage of DVD 'caps with Penélope topless in scenes from "Abre los ojos" (1997), by Realist.

Kira Reed Kira testing a sex toy on the Dutch TV show "Sexcetera", by Scanman.

Molly Sims Several folks have been asking "Who is the blonde in the Old Navy commercials?". That's Molly Sims. Here she is in a cool, artistic topless pose.

    The Funnies by Number 6
After a long night of making love the young guy rolled over, pulled out a cigarette from his jeans and searched for his lighter. Unable to find it, he asked the girl if she had one at hand.

'There might be some matches in the top drawer,' she replied.

He opened the drawer of the bedside table and found a box of matches setting neatly on top of a framed picture of another man. Naturally, the guy began to worry.

'Is this your husband?' he inquired nervously.

'No, silly,' she replied, snuggling up to him.

    'Your boyfriend then?' he asked.

'No, not at all,' she said, nibbling away at his ear.

'Well, who is he then?' demanded the bewildered guy.

Calmly, the girl replied, 'That's me before the operation.'
