Goliath

The first season of Goliath was not exactly filled with lightness and gaiety, but it produced some satisfaction with its resolution. Season two is just depressing as hell. The relationships all turn to shit, the sympathetic characters meet an ugly fate, and the worst people remain unpunished.  The action often turns surreal and not a little bit perverted. I don't mean perverted in any fun sense, but in a dark, twisted way: for example, two different characters are amputation fetishists, and one of them is an amateur surgeon. This series is brilliant in many ways, and Billy Bob Thornton is off-the-charts good in his special, laconic way, but I have to say that if season two exists as a stand-alone story, it is one of the least pleasant ways I have ever spent time. My only hope is that season two is just a prelude to season three, when the worst evil finally receives some comeuppance.
