"Tenebre" (1982)
Tenebre (1982) is a nifty whodunit thriller by Dario Argento. After doing several pure horror in a row, he returned to his real love, suspense thriller, but with lots of gore. Dario loves to push the envelope, and create effects that have never been done on film. He was asked in an interview if he felt guilty because people have trouble sleeping after one of his films. He said, "No, I love it. That means the film affected them." An American author of a murder mystery, Tenebre, flies to Italy on a promotional tour. Someone starts murdering girls, and sending notes to the author. The killer also stuffs pages from the book into the first victim's mouth. I don't want to reveal more of the plot, as I recommend this one. This new uncut dubbed version is very watchable.
The color palette used in this film is more modern than most of Argento's films. but his expertise with the camera is still evident (see Wendel03). Mirellia D'Angelo and Lara Wendel have good see-throughs, an Unknown lesbian shows breasts several times in a long scene, and Eva Robins shows
his breasts in a lengthy flashback. Maltin reviewed the 91 minute butchered version first released in the US and awarded 2 stars. Argento was furious about the censored version. IMDB readers have it very high for its genre at 7.2/10. The gore may put off some mystery fans, but I think both horror and suspense fans will enjoy this one. C+.

The new issue of our favorite magazine from our guru emeritus, Celebrity Sleuth, is jam-packed with new material. His theme - the first time ever, in which he attempts to find the first time these celebrities got naked for the camera. There is way too much to cover it all, but these are some highlights. Unfortunately, Sleuth is on vacation now, so he won't be able to offer us his usual insights until he comes back.:
Three films with no nudity:
Tom Jones was considered a morally degenerate film in 1963, but it has no nudity. It won the Best Picture Oscar that year. Nixon and Thirteen Days (street date yesterday) are historical dramas about the second half of the twentieth century. Both are excellent films, although of greater interest to those who recall the events. I think my review of Thirteen Days is kinda funny, in a bizarre way. It's a completely serious film, but something about it tickled my funny bone.
Many more new releases in the next two days, including (I hope) Katie Holmes DVD caps from The Gift on Friday.

Problems, problems, problems. Here in the UK we have PAL. The recalled Little Shop DVD is Region 1 NTSC. My Pc setting were all PAL. Changed them and eventually could at least get the scene onto my PC.
For some reason my PC will capture the scene and I created these jpgs from it. But can I convert it to mpg or even get the avi to play, no sir. Anyway, here's what I got. The scene is in black and white on the DVD by the way. The directors commentary says something about it being for arty reasons etc.
Just to clarify...this is not in the current release of the DVD. The nip slip is only in the recalled version, under deleted scenes. The recalled version was recalled within two days. To give you an idea, I picked my copy up off of Ebay for $100. As it will never be released in that format again. Personally, I thought it was worth it.

abruptly cut short. All her skinny dipping scenes for the series were shot in five takes one November day and from close-ups, it looks like the water was cold.

A very good request.....
A Fun House reader has challenged us to find images of two actresses from the Showtime Series "The Chris Isaak Show".
The first...Samantha Ferris. She went topless in the episode that aired on Sunday night. In addition to the nudity on the Chris Isaak Show, she appeared topless in several episodes of the Showtime series "Beggars and Choosers". Always in good lighting, and no robo-hooters.
The second actress...Kristin Dattilo. I doubt there are any nudes of her out there, but there's always hope. On "The Chris Isaak Show", she's worn tight shirts, gone bra only, and has on occasion had some pokies worth a look. Plus, as the kid that mows my lawn would say..."dude, she's a hottie with really big boobs".
My very short review of the show...I really enjoy it! It's funny, they have a ton of guest stars, cool music, and nudity in almost every episode. After all it is sex, drugs and rock and roll!
