Sugar Cookies (1973) was supposedly written by Theodore Gershuny for his then wife, May Woronov. She has her doubts considering that he cast himself in the film, doing a sex scene with Lynn Lowry. Lloyd Kaufman, in his pre Troma days, produced, and shares writing credits. One of the associate producers was none other than Kaufman's school chum from Yale, Oliver Stone. Stone refused to record an interview for this DVD.

Lyn Lowry plays two roles. As the film opens, she is engaged in domination play with Max (George Shannon) which includes a loaded and cocked handgun. He blows the back of her head off with it. She was supposedly a famous porn star, and he makes it look like a suicide, using Mary Woronov as his alibi. He was doing Woronov, but Woronov was also doing Lowry. Max was also doing his secretary, Jennifer Wells. Woronow starts trying to find a replacement for the dead woman, and picks -- you guessed it -- Lynn Lowry, and starts loosening her up and preparing her to do the same sort of sex thing with Max. Along the way, they have a lesbian sex scene, and the two take a bath together.

Lowry is naked for most of the film. Woronov shows breasts frequently, but keeps her panties on, or under water. Wells also shows everything in two scenes, Maureen Byrnes also shows everything in a sub plot that only exists to give Woronov an alibi, and Kathy Nonass shows breasts as one of the actresses interviewed.

IMDb has this at 4.5 of 10, with only 30 votes. In the special features, Woronov said she thought the film had faded into obscurity, and was not unhappy about that. Kaufman explained that it was the only X rated film to ever lose money. The problem here is the story. The performances were not bad, and some effort was put into production design. The nudity is the only reason to watch it, but it is a must see for Mary Woronov fans. Both female leads are still working. Mary Woronov has a film looking for distribution, and Lynn Lowry is a vocalist for a Jazz band out of LA specializing in 30s and 40s tunes. Unless you are one of Mary's cult followers, you wil probably want to miss this Troma release. D.

NOTE: because of a unique combination of circumstances with the Windows media player and some substantial bandwidth theft, we will have to do all of our movie files in zip format. Left click on the files as you normally would to view a picture. When you get a choice, click on "save", and put it on your hard drive in the directory of your choice. UnZIP and play from there.

I know this is not especially convenient, but it allows the film clips to continue. I can protect .zip files from hot-linking in the same way I can protect still images. For some reason, if I protect .avis and .wmvs from hot-linking, they will not play in the Windows media player, and I can't get a satisfactory work-around. Perhaps I will find a better solution, but for now this new policy allows you to continue getting the movie clips you want to see, which is much preferable to my abandoning the clips altogether.

FYI when I hypercam vids to make the file size smaller I use DivX MPEG-4 Fast-Motion for the video compressor, then I use virtualdub to compress the audio. The properties for the vids says the video codec:  DivX Decoder Filter & audio codec:  Morgan Stream Switcher which I'm not familiar with. When I compress the audio with virtualdub I use MPEG Layer-3.  A friend of mine told me about compressing the audio about (6) mos. ago. Like I said previously, only been capping for a year & a half & I'm no expert. Hopefully this info will help members with the proper codecs for my vids.

 

When I cap big brother's I use hypercam mostly & sdp & asfrecorder if the set up allows me. I stopped using camtasia cause the file sizes were always too big, could never figure out the process, over my head lol, plus it cost too much to buy in my opinion.

I made the .wmv versions of each video. The codecs for these: Windows Video V8, Windows Audio 9. The upside of these is that you know the codecs, and they'll play in the Windows Media Player. The downside is that they are slightly larger, and slightly lower quality.

"3-Way"
This 2004 direct-to-video crime thriller based on a 1963 pulp novel by Gil Brewer had every opportunity to be simply a trashy sexplotation flick, but resisted the temptation, and is in fact a pretty good effort.

An ex-con appears to be the killer of his wife and her lover. The brother of the lover needs to know the location of the body, so he can have the brother declared dead, and inherit the brother's riches. He's not particular how he extracts the information from the guy he believes killed his brother. Meantime, our con overhears a kidnapping/murder plot, and decides to extort the profits from the kidnappers, who, incidentially, are the husband and girlfriend of the intended kidnapping victim.

If all this sounds confusing and kind of crazy, it is, which makes for a very interesting movie with a nice twisty ending.
