From the Mailbox

Hi Uncle Scoopy,

I have been a happy member of your site for a few months, and was wondering if I could request two clips?

It would be fantastic if this were possible.

They are:
Noémie Schmidt - Dolça
Solène Rigot - Puppy Love (with no subtitles. The files in the Encyclopedia all contain hard subtitles)

Thank you,
R

Scoop's note:

I think I can do that. Let me know if this is not exactly what you requested:

Noémie Schmidt - Dolça

Solène Rigot (Audrey Bastien also pictured) - Puppylove

The nudity in The Cliff is by Ingrid Garcia-Jonsson

and Juana Acosta.

Goya Toledo looks good.

Back to the Grindhouse.

You can think of 1965 and 1966 as the Golden Age of grindhouse, with a couple dozen exploitation movies flying out of studios in New York and the West Coast every week.

Orgy of the Dead (1965) was written by Ed Wood.  Let that sentence roll around in your noggin for a while.  When you get done watching this hybrid of lunacy and idiocy you are surprised that anyone - anyone at all - sat and put pen to paper in some act of composition because the whole thing is the cinema equivalent of Brownian motion, but then you read the credits and slap your forehead and say, of course … Ed Wood.

My major complaint is the misleading title. There is nothing resembling an orgy, unless your idea of an orgy is ten women dancing topless, so maybe Ed should have called it Strip Club of the Dead. Anyway, ten women do indeed dance topless as characters of sorts, which makes the whole thing seem to be mash-up of Showgirls and The Village People.

(All links lead to 720p film clips)

Of the ten topless women, Pat Barrington is the most well-known for her display of talents in other movies.

Mickey Jines appeared in a movie or two every couple of years during the 60’s but made most of her movie as a photographer’s model.

And Lorali Hart was in this silliness in 1965 and then in a very different bit of silliness (Naked Gun) 23 years later.

The others are lucky to show up in one or perhaps two more films before disappearing from the world of cinema.
