"The Point Men"
The Point Men (2001) is an espionage thriller about a group of Israeli agents in a grudge match against a Palestinian terrorist. When their careful plan to assassinate him fails (they are sure it was the wrong man, and one of their own was killed) they realize they were set up. Their boss doesn't, however, and offers them a choice of resignation, or a meaningless desk job. Of course, the bad guy is out for revenge killing of the entire team, and as more and more die, the remaining members get back into the game. They also realize that there must be more at stake than just illuminating them.
Peronella V. Kastel does a full frontal and rear scene when the bad guy, who has just gotten a new face, kills the plastic surgeon and his nurse, making it look like a murder/suicide. Maryam d'Abo, as one of the Israeli agents, shows breasts in a sex scene. IMDb readers have this at 4.6 of 10, although it fared a little better with those my age. Those who commented at IMDb, mostly fans of Christopher Lambert, the lead, seem to agree with me. IT is certainly not great, but it is watchable, with plenty of action and a few surprises. C-.

The Shout (1978):
Here's the plot description at IMDb
"A traveller by the name of Crossley forces
himself upon a musician and his wife in a lonely part of Devon, and
uses the aboriginal magic he has learned to displace his host."
An important element of that magic is the ability
to shout someone dead.
One of the strangest films ever made, because the
entire tale is told in flashback, as related by a lunatic while he
watches a cricket game in the asylum. It follows the surreal,
confused, sometimes incoherent process inside a madman's head. As I
recall, it is a beautiful looking film, but makes the last episode
of the Prisoner seem as obvious and straightforward as an episode of
Ozzie and Harriet. I haven't seen this film in 20 years, and I
noticed that there is a DVD available from the UK, so I ordered it
and will work on collages and a detailed review when it arrives.

Disturbing 'Hidden' keeps you guessing at Cannes
- Austrian director Michael Haneke was unapologetic, saying
that he never aimed to provide the answers. "If I was to give
you an explanation it would be counterproductive," he told
reporters on Saturday after the first screening of his film
which is in competition this year. "I constructed the film in
this way to ensure that there were questions you carry away with
you."
- I don't blame him. If I were a writer/director of a
thriller, I would not want to do all the mental work required to
make sure that all the elements make logical sense. That's too
hard. I would just muddle the story with arty, confusing,
ambiguous crap. That way I could deny anyone's interpretation,
and nobody would be able to see how stupid and lazy I am. To cap
the movie off, I would have the protagonist wake up at the end,
and realize it may all have been a dream - or it may not have!
This gives me a double out because (1) perhaps it never happened
at all; (2) if an element of the plot doesn't make sense, it is
because it may have taken place in a dream, and dreams are not
logical! Voila! Instant masterpiece. In fact, confusion is the
Prime Directive of European filmmaking.

Explicit sex in Mexican film (Battle in Heaven) causes stir at
Cannes
- "The world may not be waiting for a feature film showing two
obese Mexicans having sex after their attempt to kidnap a baby
goes horribly wrong, but Carlos Reygadas said on Sunday his film
captures real life. "

J-Lo and J-Fo win the Weekend Box Office May 13-15, 2005
- The new films came in about where The Weekend Warrior
predicted, except that J-Lo was a bit stronger than expected.
(24 million actual, twenty million prediction)
- Crash again performed better than expectations. While the
other two releases from last week dropped about 50% each, Crash
dropped only 20% - despite facing four new releases this week,
including three strong ones.
- I'd say the market has just about crashed for historical
epics. Given the abominable performance of Alexander and the
weak results for Kingdom of Heaven, I don't think we'll be
seeing too many more of these big-budget extravaganzas.

Liz Hurley, the Paris Hilton of her own time, has joined the cast
of the action comedy THE CLEANER. It's a highly
plausible real-life crime story about an amnesiac janitor who
believes he's an undercover agent hot on the heels of an
international arms ring. Hurley will play a villain who uses the
janitor for her own nefarious purposes.

- If there is a white asterisk, it means that
there isn't any significant humor, but I inexplicably determined
there might be something else of interest.

- If there is no asterisk, I wrote it, but am too

'Caps and comments by Oz:
"Kiss the Bride"
There's brief topless nudity in Kiss the Bride by Vanessa Parise. There are also some interesting caps of Monet Mazur and Brooke Langton.
"Love Cheat and Steal"
Lots of topless nudity by an unidentified actress in Love, Cheat and Steal. Mädchen Amick is also topless but we only have a dark side view. We also get a good view of her rear, although she's wearing a thong.

Some side nudity by Georgina Cates in Frankie Starlight.
"Bringing Down the House"
It's an upskirt by Queen Latifah in Bringing Down the House as she has a bitch fight with Missi Pyle. It must have been a long day as she had time to change her underwear in the fight.
"Elvira's Haunted Hills"
Plenty of cleavage by Elvira (aka Cassandra Peterson) in Elvira's Haunted Hills, as you would expect from this eponymous double entendre named movie (I've been working up to that all year!).
