New releases
Again, no
nudity in the new releases this week. The Insider
and Three Kings are terrific movies, but no
flesh. Three to Tango and Superstar were pretty
lame comedies. I haven't gotten through Hollywood
Sins yet, and it may have nudity, but it'll be
obscure queen-b types, if anything.
"Big
Doll House", from Tuna
Comments by Tuna Big Doll House: First of the
Girls in Prison exploitation films by Roger
Corman. It was shot in the Philipines so he could
get a "bigger picture" for his low
budget. It was a huge success in the drive-ins.
He was concerned that it was too violent, and
toned it down for The Big Bird Cage, which didn't
do nearly as well. It has all the plot elements
you would expect in a girls in prison film --
warden supplying dope, sadistic warden, shower
scene, lesbians, fights, etc.

"Jenifer
8", from Tuna
Comments by Tuna Jennifer 8: About a new
detective who believes that a serial killer is on
the lose, praying on blind girls. The rest of his
department doesn't believe him. Uma Thurman is
very believable as a blind girl..
Scoop's note: there are
naked body parts in every one of Tuna's captures
from thsi 1992 flick. Unfortunately, they don't
have any heads attached. And you know what that
means, don't you, kids? Boy, except for
"Sweet and Lowdown" (which i'm
accepting on faith, since I haven't seen it), it
has really been a long time since lovely and
talented Uma was in a good movie. She's only 29,
but it seems like all her hits were so far in the
past. Pulp Fiction was about six years ago, Henry
and June 10 years, Dangerous Liaisons even
longer. Uma was only a teenager in Liaisons. thumbnails Uma (1,
