"Erotic Ghost Story", from
Tuna
Tuna was very pleased
with the movie, and the caps that resulted from
it. His comments with some minor editing:
"This is based on an ancient Chinese erotic
novel of the same name. Three wood nymphs are
rewarded for a century of excelent wood nymphery
with a chance to become human. In order to pass
their entrance exam, they must mediate in human
form for 45 days and remain chaste. All three are
seduced by an evil demon in a human avatar, but a
"Taoist priest" comes to their aid.
The movie can be thought
of as the Hong Kong version of Witches of
Eastwick. All of the actresses are lovely, and
show most (some all) of the goods. The story is
strong enough so that, even with the lengthy sex
scenes, it held my interest. Although graphic,
the sex scenes exhibit a sensuality and
tenderness seldom if ever seen in the Western
equivalents. Women will enjoy the way sex is
portrayed.
The costuming and set
design are spectacular. The photography was also
exceptional. The special effects won awards. The
DVD is an excellent transfer, multi-lingual, with
some extra features. This may be the finest piece
of erotica I have seen to date. Highly
recommended.

"An
Occasional Hell", from Johnny Web
I kinda liked this Grade
B thriller with some interesting characters. Tom
Berenger plays a detective on ambulatory
dialysis, so he's not exactly a tough guy. And he
talks to the murder victim in his head. Worse
yet, she taunts him. That stuff was all pretty
good in that it distinguished thsi movie from all
the others in the genre.
I did find it a bit
irritating that the solution to the murder
mystery was one of those things where it was done
by some minor characters virtually unrelated to
the plot, and all the obvious leads turned out to
be red herrings. Like you're watching a movie
where Hercule Poirot calls everyone in the
drawing room, and instead of being one of them,
it turns out that it was done by somebody's third
cousin in Bulgaria, who has never been mentioned
before. Kari Wuhrer Kari Wuhrer Valeria Golino Valeria Golino
