"The Passion of Ayn Rand" (1999)

The Passion of Ayn Rand (1999) presents a side of the author of The Fountainhead and Atlas Shrugged that I was unaware of. Based on a biography by Barbara Brandon, long-time follower of Rand (Helen Mirren), the story is told from her point of view. She and her then college boyfriend met Rand after Rand liked something Nathaniel Brandon (Eric Stoltz) had written to her in a letter. They became fervent disciples, and even married when Rand convinced them they were the perfect couple. Nathaniel became a psychologist, and Ayn's protege. Barbara proved to be frigid, and somewhat of a mouse, and Ayns husband Frank (Peter Fonda) was also rather slow next to Ayn and Nathaniel. Finally, Ayn and Nathaniel decide they want to have sex together, but ask permission of their spouses, which was reluctantly given. Everything falls apart several years later when Ayn discovers that Nathaniel has been intimate with one of his patients (Sybil Temchen), and has fallen for her.

This film was produced by Showtime, and earned awards for Fonda and Mirren. Mirren was absolutely the high point of this film. There are very dark side views of Mirren's breasts, and much better exposure by Sybil Temchen. The entire film is dark and grainy. Although the story is somewhat soap opera-like, Ayn is an interesting enough character, and Mirren did such a great job with the role that it was watchable. There are no critical reviews available, but there is a very well-written newsgroup review that you might want to read. I give this one a C to C+.

I looked at Young Guns II, No nudity except Estevez, and this lame shot in the closing word captions! The world has changed in the past decade, eh? Ten years ago they were trying to sneak nudity in. This gets my award for the most gratuitous and unnecessary nudity I've ever seen.
    • Gratuitous nudity - during the closing word captions - a flashback to a scene not even in the movie! It's as if it were a Monty Python sketch, and the announcer said "now for the gratuitous nudity"

I wrote up the noted cinema classic, Flesh Gordon 2, based upon Realist's comments and my previous viewing. It stars, among others, Melissa Mounds. I knew her brother, Peter-Paul. Why do these big boob girls bother to use real first names? Why not just go right to the point, and call themselves "Mammoth Breasts" or "Gargantuan Hooters". Same concept as Mike Myers' "Fat Bastard"

Here are the old movie reviews, if you care to read any of them or search for any of them. Includes mine, Tuna's, and an assortment of other guests from time to time.

    Graphic Response
  • Lea Thompson, topless and brief frontal nudity from 1983's "All the Right Moves".
  • Madeleine Stowe, clear topless plus far off full frontal scenes from "China Moon" (1991)
  • Uschi Digard, topless (of course) as a Catholic High School Girl in Trouble from "Kentucky Fried Movie" (1977).

    Moviemaking at its best!

I had a choice. "The Bicycle Thief", Vottorio DeSica's masterpiece about post-war Italy, or "Flesh Gordon and the Cosmic Cheerleaders".

I was sure I had picked "The Bicycle Thief" when I saw the cast. How was I to know that Melissa Mounds and Strawberry Angel were in both films! D'oh!

Anyway, Morgan Fox was in this movie. She was the Heffer of the Month in December 1990, but made this fine film way back in 1989, so she was already a major star before becoming a Rabbit-mate, although I couldn't find any record of major awards that she may have won for her performance here. Probably a record-keeping oversight.

The ladies of "Flesh Gordon and the Cosmic Cheerleaders"

  • Strawberry Angel
  • Assorted Cheerleaders (1, 2)
  • Morgan Fox (1, 2)
  • Robyn Kelly (1, 2)
  • Melissa Mounds
  • Zenguru
Zenguru's Runway Report. Featuring great scans, artistic collages, and top models either showing their breasts, or wearing extremely see-thru outfits!

Shirley Mallman Shirley showing a breast in this rare outtake from "Conan the Barbarian". No wait, my mistake. Only the outfit was used in a "Conan" movie, but now it's all the rage on the catwalk. Don't tell the anti-fur people!

Jacquetta Wheeler Single breast exposure on the runway.

    Isabelli Fontana See-thru top.

Fernanda Tavares A more see-thru top.

Caroline Ribeiro An even more see-thru top.

    Fernanda Tavares Single breast exposure.
