Summer Coda
(2010)
Summer Coda is romantic drama about an American
girl Heidi (Rachael Taylor) who has come back to her place of birth in
Australia to go to the funeral of the father she has not seen for a long
time. She hitchhikes her way to the funeral and is met by Michael (Alex
Dimitriades), a local orange farmer who offers to drive her to town. At
the funeral, Heidi is introduced to her father's new family. She is warded
off getting anything out of the family by his widow, so Heidi leaves town.
Then, she changes her mind and goes to see Michael, who lets her stay for
a while. Meanwhile, it's orange picking season and a bunch of regular
orange pickers camp down by the river waiting to pick for Michael. Over
the next few days, the relationship between Heidi and Michael develops,
but there is one thing holding them back. A good romantic film that is a
bit of a slow burn, but that's not necessarily a bad thing, although it
might test the patience of some.
Has a pretty interesting supporting cast of
misfit Australian actors as well.
