Electra Woman and Dyna Girl remake!

The WB gave the greenlight for a remake of the '70s Saturday morning live-action favorite Electra Woman and Dyna Girl. The original ABC series of course starred Deidra Hall and Judy Strangis as two magazine reporters/spandex­superheroines.

The WB will update the series to center on a young college student going to Las Vegas, where she finds "Electra Woman'' and soon becomes her "Dyna Girl,'' according to Variety. Here's a little more info.

"Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man" (1991)

Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man (1991) is amazing, in that the cast and crew seemed to be trying for "So bad it's good" and succeeded. Scoopy covered many of the plot problems and corny dialogue in his review, but I would like to mention a few points he didn't.

Harley leaves Texas on his bike, goes through Las Vegas, then goes over the Altamont Pass, and comes down into Burbank, California. Unfortunately, the Altimont is between Oakland and Sacramento, 400 miles north of Burbank. This was not even their most spectacular geographical wizardry. Much of the action takes place in the Air Force bone yard at Davis Monthan Air Force Base in Tucson, Arizona, which they get to by hopping a fence from the Burbank airport. My favorite blooper is their jump from 40 stories into a swimming pool. They were kicking their legs the entire way down. Had they actually hit the water spread legged, they would have had massive chlorinated enemas and very sore testicles. I also liked the 1/8th inch thick kevlar overcoats on the bullet-proof guys that not only stopped bullets, but sparked when hit. By the way, it took three shoot-outs for our heroes to aim for the head.

I am not sure "So bad it's good" counts when it is intentional, but I enjoyed this film, which is sort of a bottom line.

    There are good movies, and there are entertaining movies. Some movies are both (Raiders), some movies are good but unentertaining (Wild Strawberries), and some movies are entertaining but bad (Road House). Meet Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man, the 1991 winner of the Road House award for worst premise, silliest dialogue, and casting. Imagine taking an incomprehensible caper/buddy film, hiring somebody to write intentionally bad dialogue, and filling out the characters with Don Johnson, Mickey Rourke, and wrestler Big John Studd. Now THAT's entertainment. I watched every minute. Never was tempted to reach for the remote.

    City of Industry is today's entry in the noir genre of darkness-guns-saxophones-crime-betrayal-revenge. Critics savaged it, but it seems to have its fans and a respectable score at IMDb. There is a hardcore audience for hip and savage ultraviolent movies, irrespective of their quality. I guess the movie is probably most noteworthy for the presence of Keitel and a topless scene from a future Charlie's Angel, Lucy Liu.

    I can't begin to describe the joy of seeing both Scoop and Tuna review Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man on the same day! As a lover of bad movies, this is a happy moment. I believe a tear is actually forming in my eye as I type.

    To help readers understand what I'm feeling, let me put it this way:

    "Roadhouse" is to Scoop as "HD and MM" is to Jr.

  • Goldie Hawn in 1992's "Criss Cross". Goldie plays a stripper in this movie, but never shows anything other than her G-string. Although you have to give her credit for still having such a nice bum at the age of 47. Either that or give Stan Winston, Rick Baker or Michael Westmore an Oscar for make-up effects!

    No nudity in these two, but how often to I get to say this....Here are vidcaps from "The Adventures of Rocky & Bullwinkle"

    Rene of course is Natasha, and she's out to get Moose and Squirrel. In keeping with the Jay Ward tradition, Piper's character is "Karen Sympathy".

    I have not seen this, but I'm curious. I've always been a huge fan of Jay Ward's cartoons, sadly however, previous live action versions were not worth the celluloid they are printed on. To put it bluntly, "George of the Jungle" and "Dudley Do-Right" were pig crap.

    On a side note...Sherman, set the Way-Back Machine to 1986.
    As I see these 'caps I am reminded of a trip I took one summer with my brother and Scoop Sr. We spent the 4th of July in New York City and celebrated the 100th birthday of the Statue of Liberty with the rest of America. Yup, we were right there, up close and personal, along with about a bazillion other people. Granted, watching such a wonderful and unique bit of American history unfold live in front of my eyes was quite a wonderful experience.

    Believe it or not, that was not the highlight of the trip! The fondest memories of the week we spent in NYC were:

  • Seeing Penn and Teller before they became a huge Vegas act.
  • All of the wonderful museums.
  • An accidental pit stop into the then miniscule Museum of Television and Radio.

    We had no idea what to expect when we stumbled into the MTR, but as it turned out, our tour group of about 6 people (we were 3 of the 6) were in for a rare treat. They sat us down in a room and played Jay Ward cartoons for two hours. Mostly greatest hits, and some very rare stuff. Like a cartoon about Siamese twins. One of course was a Do-Right kinda guy, and the other pure evil. It was wonderful.

    In true Ward fashion, the word play was horribly funny and more than once we thought they were going to kick us out for laughing so hard.

    So there, that should bring us back around to my original point. I've loved Ward's work since I can remember, and I have been fortunate enough to see some of his greatest work. Now why can't they get it right in the movies?

    Scoop mentioned that he has been looking forward to seeing this on on DVD, but alas it hasn't made it yet. At least not that we know of. But even without digital quality, DeVo has put together some of the best images we've seen of Kelly's nude scenes -including full frontal- from 1989's "Warm Summer Rain". By the way, '89 was also the year of Scoop's favorite, "Road House"!

    When I was a kid I always wanted one of those things that Colt and Howie used to launch themselves over walls and stuff. That was the best!

    Ya know, back when this show ran, everyone made fun of Lee Majors for singing his own theme song. Well Lee, in case no one has officially said it, I'll go ahead and speak up...Lee, you are forgiven. Mainly because someone else came along and made you sound like Pavarotti. That man's name is Chuck Norris. The show was the thankfully now cancelled "Walker Texas Ranger".

I actually tried to watch this on cable a few weeks ago, but without a fast forward button, there was no way I was ever going to make it through. Luckily there were some Hogan's Heroes reruns on TVland, so the evening wasn't a complete waste.

    Kim Cattrall Woo-Hoo! Vidcaps of Kim nekkid in something other than and episode of "Sex and the City". Here she is in 1995's "Above Suspicion".
