Marine

(s10e3) in 1080p
Johnny
Moronic's column
features clips from
the two-part premiere
of The
Straits,
a new Aussie crime
series based in
tropical far North
Queensland. The Torres
Strait is the name for
the strip of water
which separates
northernmost
Queensland (called
Cape York Peninsula)
from Papua New Guinea.
That area is filled
with islands and
reefs, and is thus an
ideal operating base
for smugglers and
pirates using small
boats and local
knowledge. I haven't
watched it yet, but I
gather that the show
is kinda like Miami
Vice meets the
Sopranos, only with
more babies being
stolen by dingos. (OK,
there are probably no
dingos up in that part
of OZ, but you get the
idea.)
Deep Blue Sea
2011
Unbearably
slow, humorless, and
tedious British period
drama based on a
Terrence Ratigan play,
with a syrupy musical
score. It does feature
a brief, dark,
arty-farty peek at the
charms
of Rachel Weisz.

are problems

these's no audio

Nonetheless, it
represents the
