Maggie Gyllenhaal in
Strip Search. The film clip
is in high definition, so the parts which are good are VERY good, but the video
has some coding problems and occasionally becomes pixilated. It gets better at
the end. It's still completely worth your while.

Today's collection-builder is Susan
Sarandon. Sarandon has also done nudity in Sweetheart's Dance (1988),
Fleur Bleue (1971), and King of the Gypsies (1978). Caps from the first two are
in the Encyclopedia. The nudity in King of the Gypsies is very brief (a breast
falls out in a fight scene), and the film is not available on DVD. It should be,
since it was the film debt of the prolific B-movie legend Eric Roberts. Miss
Sarandon turns 60 this year, but is working more than ever. Her IMDb page shows
EIGHT films in 2007.

Other Side of Midnight (1977) age 30. This has some of Sarandon's sexiest
footage - wet nightie with nothing beneath - but the film has not been available
on DVD. It finally comes to DVD on March 6, so we should have full uncoverage
and reviews then. (And an upgrade in the film clips, presumably.)

No asterisk: it probably sucks.

Justine and Juliette
Based on a story by the Marquis de Sade, Justine & Juliette (1975) is a Swedish sex farce with a liberal sprinkling of hard core action. The cast includes a young Harry Reems (Deep Throat), and
features Anne Bei Warburg and Marie Forsa in the title roles.
Justine and Juliette are thrown out of their home by their aunt after their mother's death, and given one-way tickets to the city. Juliette (Warburg) is not worried. She has a lovely body, and a lot of experience using it to get anything she wants. The virginal Justine (Forsa) is very concerned. They hitch a ride, and Juliette does the driver. As soon as they get to the city, Justine leaves and finds herself a room.
Juliette's new found boyfriend takes her to a sex club, then gets her a job in a bawdy house, where she sells her virginity 750 times (an astringent and a little fake blood fool any man with a hard-on). Meanwhile, Justine is attacked by the hotel clerk, and hits the streets, where she runs into her sister, and moves in. She meets a man at a party at the whorehouse, and loses her virginity, but loses interest when he tries to share her with friends. The punch line to the entire film involves Harry Reems, whose will states that when he drops dead of his expected heart attack, his riches will go to whichever women is in his arms at the time. I don't want to spoil the ending, but sometimes good girls finish first.
Marie Forsa is lovely and sells innocence, Harry Reems is WAY over the top.
The new transfer is clear enough, but has a lot of color shift, which was
probably intentional. The soundtrack is in Swedish, but with brand new English subtitles.
IMDb readers say 4.2 based on a statistically meaningless 21 votes.

The Brink
This 2003 effort is a little bit Sci-Fi, a little bit ghost story, a little bit horror, and unfortunately, only a little bit good.
Four college students find papers that show that, when he wasn't busy inventing the phonograph and the light bulb, Thomas Edison also invented a machine that lets you see and talk to the dead. Deciding that this would be an extremely cool thing to do, they build it.
Off they go to a spooky abandoned house, to see if they can scare up some ghosts. No problem. Unfortunately, what they find are murderous ghosts, and after the first two
students die unpleasant deaths, the remaining two must figure out a way to escape the house alive.
This one is pretty poor, but still, it actually had some watchable and interesting parts. Unfortunately, there were other times when you caught yourself saying "you gotta be kidding." The "drown the girl in an ice-water filled bathtub to save us both" part was kind of cool, at least.

The Hunger
Episode: Room 17
When Bert, a travelling salesman (Curtis Armstrong) hires Room 17 of the
Limbo Hotel and orders an adult channel on his cable television, he meets
Carla (Kim Feeney) a stripper inside the TV that talks to him. She helps him
improve his sales and even comes out to have sex with him. Everything goes
great for Bert until Carla asks him to kill his wife to take anything of
value from his house and run away with her. This was a fun episode, Curtis
"Booger" Armstrong did a good job playing a loser who thinks he just hit the jackpot.

Pat's comments in yellow...
CALIFORNIA PONDERS LIGHT BULB LAW
California Assemblyman Lloyd Levine introduced a bill
to force everyone in California to switch from incandescent light bulbs to
energy-saving compact fluorescent bulbs by 2012. He calls his bill the "How Many
Legislators Does it Take to Change a Lightbulb Act," and said it would continue
California's pioneering role in saving the planet. One problem: many people,
particularly women, hate the fluorescent bulbs. Critics say they save energy,
but they put out a cold, ugly, blue-tinged light that makes your face look like
you're 20 years older, or dead.
* Just thank God they tape "The View" in New York and not Los Angeles.
Britain's GW Pharmaceuticals plans to start human trials of an
experimental obesity treatment derived from cannabis. Several other companies
are trying to made drugs from cannabis that don't give people the munchies. But
GW says pot has 70 different cannabinoids, each with a different effect, and
while some stimulate hunger, others actually suppress it. So you can use pot to
make appetite-suppressant drugs.
* In other news, Hostess Foods stock has just plummeted in value.
The nuclear power sector in Russia announced that it is
launching a beauty contest for female nuclear workers. Organizer Ilya Platonov,
who runs the www.nuclear.ru website, said, "There are a lot of beautiful women
in the Russian nuclear sector. It's open to women 18-35 who work in the Russian
nuclear sector or who are at least studying nuclear science in a university.
They could win the title of Miss Atom 2007.
* The girls are more than beautiful, they're positively radiant!
