A Good Thing Going

Johnny's comments:

A Good Thing Going is a 1978 domestic drama made for TV. The clips are a VHS rip and the tape has some interlacing issues. Since it is a TV movie, it's highly doubtful it'll ever get an upgrade to better quality.

Summary:
Phil (John Hargreaves) stays out with his mates, including his best mate Terry (Chris Haywood), every night and has a fling with Jeanette (Tina Bursill, who has been a consistent presence in Australian movies and TV for 50 years and is still going strong). There's just one thing. He's married to Jane (Veronica Lang) and they have two kids. Jane has finally had enough of his bullshit. One day, she up and leaves without telling him or the kids. Phil then has to look after the kids but he's completely hopeless and his kids take it hard, particularly his son who gets into plenty of trouble. Can Phil get his shit together and get back with Jane?

Another very much "of the time" drama. It's generally pretty obvious where it's going, although it is a bit of shock having the mother just disappear completely with little interest in coming back. Phil is an awful person and deserves a wake-up call, but Jane probably would've made a better choice if she took the kids when she dumped him.

Interesting that the kids are played by fairly famous acting siblings Miles and Simone Buchanan.
