Oh,
you Europeans and your
wacky autopsy fetish. I
believe a naked autopsy
scene is required in
every production by the
EU constitutional
mandates. That's always
kind of awkward in
youthploitation
comedies, pirate yarns
and undersea
documentaries, but I
guess we should expect
it in
Silent
Witness,
which is actually a show
about forensic pathology
and the wacky hijinks it
inspires. Actually,
there are minimal
hijinks. It's sorta like
a BBC version of Quincy
in that the coroners
seem to spend more time
on crime-solving than
they do on the tedious
microscope-peering and
other non-cinematic
laboratory work that
occupies most of the
time of real
pathologists. Anyway,
the show is now in its
18th season, and
Catherine
Hamilton provided
the mandatory European
"mortuary slab nudity"
in episode three of the
current series.
