Run! Bitch! Run!
2009
One staple of the 1970's was rape-and-revenge movies like I Spit On
Your Grave, and The Last House on the Left (which was redone in 2009).
I've capped and enjoyed all three, so I particularly appreciated this 2009
homage to the genre, Run! Bitch Run!, which captured the flavor and style
of the 70's very well.
Two Catholic School girls are selling religious paraphernalia
door-to-door, when they happen to peak in a window and see a murder.
Unfortunately, the murderers see them as well.
Rebecca (Christina DeRosa) is raped, and then treated to a game of
Russian roulette, where she is the unfortunate loser. The thugs take
Catherine (Cheryl Lyone) and Rebecca's body to the woods to dispose of
them both. Catherine is raped, but manages to escape before being killed.
A passer-by takes Catherine to the hospital, but after recovering, she
leaves with only one thing on her mind: revenge.
During the movie, one of the characters was watching scenes from a
movie called Nude Nuns with Big Guns. This was included as a short on the
DVD, so I've included it here. It was filmed to look like an old 16mm film
from the 50's or 60's, complete with scratches and artifacts.
All in all, this revival of 70's sexploitation movies hits the mark,
and for fans, will be very enjoyable. Squeamish viewers won't like it at
all.
